EppyFest 8

EppyFest 8

The evening of Saturday 20th July 2019

Smokey Joe's – 16 Bennington Street, Cheltenham, GL50 4ED

Following seven successful EppyFests from 2012 to 2018, this year we're back to a Saturday evening

event at our new venue.

There is a bar and food at the venue (see www.smokeyjoescheltenham.co.uk for more details).

Approximate Timings and other important information

for EppyFest 8 on Saturday 20th July

Our EppyFest venue, Smokey Joe's, will be open as usual during the day for food and drink, so you're free to pop in, but from 6pm it will only be open to people with tickets or those intending to buy tickets.

From 6pm to 6:45 you will be able to order and eat food in the front area of Smokey Joe's but the back area, where the bands will be playing, will be off-limits.

If you bought tickets in advance you will be given a wristband and you can also pick up any extra goodies if you bought a Sponsor ticket. If you have not bought an advance ticket then you will need to buy a ticket on the door for £15 – there are cash only sales at the venue. You can still buy advance tickets here on this website (which are also cheaper at £12.50) up until midnight on Friday 19th – after that you will only be able to buy them at the venue.

From around 6:45pm we're hoping to let people into the back area. You can still order food and drink from either the front or back areas throughout the evening.

We're looking to start the live music from 7pm, with a strict cut-off of 11pm, so all acts will be playing during this four hour period only.

Approximate start times are as follows:

Longstone on at 7pm

Marvin B Naylor and Rebsie Fairholm on at 8pm

Sanguine Hum on at 9pm

Tim Burness and band on at 10pm

Although there will be no live music after 11pm, alcohol will be available until midnight and you can also stay to chat with the musicians and buy their merchandise (or even an EppyFest t-shirt). Merchandise will be available all evening, though it's probably best to buy in between the bands playing their sets or after the last band has finished. Again, sales are strictly cash only.

Our headliner is Tim Burness and his band – Tim is a Brighton-based UK musician who has been recording & performing since the early 1980s. Interconnected, his latest album, was released on 12th November, 2018. As with Tim's previous work, the album features a wide range of musical styles – from progressive rock to pop with touches of ambient electronica. The lyrics cover a range of interconnected themes – from the personal to the political to the spiritual. www.timburness.com

Before Tim, we warmly welcome back Sanguine Hum (acoustic), the duo version of the band, consisting of Matt Baber and Joff Winks. If you were at EppyFest last year you'll know they wowed everyone with a sensational performance. This year they'll be playing more new material. www.sanguinehum.com

We're also very happy to be welcoming back gifted singer, songwriter & guitarist Marvin B Naylor to EppyFest. Last time he played EppyFest he was performing on his own but we're thrilled to announce that this time he'll be joined by Rebsie Fairholm, who specialises in dark haunting psych-folk, inspired by the English landscape. Their duo performance will combine material from both their back catalogues. www.marvinbnaylor.com & www.rebsiefairholm.co.uk

And we're also excited to announce Longstone on the bill, an experimental, electronic music collective formed in 1996 in Cheltenham, coalescing around the core duo of Mike Ward and Mike Cross. With influences ranging from Kraftwerk to My Bloody Valentine, & from Aphex Twin to Jethro Tull, you know you can expect the unexpected. www.longstone.bandcamp.com
